Ex-Con Times Two: A Bad Boy MFM Romance – Jay S. Wilder and Bella Love-Wins

Ex-Con

First of all.. Damn! Look at that Cover. Hot!

Find it on Amazon – It’s in Kindle Unlimited

I  liked parts of this story. Two hot boyfriends who rescue you when the bad guys come and try to get you? Go Katelynn! I liked the fact that Love-Wins and Wilder had fun playful sex scenes instead of just writing a book where a girl goes from a virgin to a pro at DP!

The issues that I did have with the story should have been spotted during beta-reads. An example was that after the first weekend Katelynn spent with the guys, that next morning she talks about the few times shes been to the apartment. But, it was the first time! There were several places where the timeline has moved ahead but the characters haven’t.  **Spoiler Alert**  After the first night the guys go out with Katelynn, they are talking about her fake ID and how they can’t fuck around with underage girls, but between seeing the fake ID and this conversation, they tried to fuck her in the bathroom of the bar.  ***  It’s shit like that gets on my nerves. Don’t talk about staying away from someone when 10 pages ago you didn’t care if she was a minor or not. It made me not really like them as much as I would have. They were so obsessed with staying out of prison, but not actually making good choices just to be good.  — Like I said, issues that could/should have been resolved with a good editor and beta readers.

Note: I’ve beta read for a couple of authors and I drove them nuts with notes on type of shit. But, that is the distracting shit that readers get irritated with.

It isn’t very long. The Amazon page says it’s 222 pages, but the book ends at 32%. There are a bunch of books after it though, so if you’re going to purchase it, you’ll get more for your $3.99. I didn’t read them.

*When I was looking in my Contents and Devices trying to figure something out with my KU, I noticed that there is a banner under the book that says “Update Available”, so maybe the issues that I had with the book have been fixed. I apparently borrowed it March 17, 2017 and with switching out KU books all this time, never gotten around to reading it. I’m not going to reread it to find out what the update is all about, but maybe the issues that I noticed aren’t there anymore. Maybe it’s a whole new story…. who knows?!  Or, maybe the bonus books aren’t there any more.  I’m glad I read it on KU, because I’d have been irritated and returned the book if I had paid $3.99 for it. :/

When Daddy Wasn’t Looking (Nice and Dirty Series Book 1) – Lola StVil

When Daddy Wasn't Looking

It’s in Kindle Unlimited on Amazon

Doesn’t the cover model dude look like Kerr Smith with a beard?!

kerr-smith

He played Jack on Dawson’s Creek… If you didn’t know that, go find Dawson’s Creek and watch it. All of it…. Is it on Netflix or Amazon? I don’t know. I have the DVD’s from like 2007, so I’m not sure! But find it, watch it, make fun of it and yourself at 16. It will do you good 🙂

So, the book caught my attention because I am a Kerr Smith fan, so even though I hate the title and I’m 95% turned off from anything that has the word “Daddy” in the Book Title, Blurb, or Promo, I gave it a shot

**I wish I had saved a copy of the “Sponsored Ad” that showed up in my Facebook News feed. I’ve seen a couple of them for this book just this past week, but I don’t think either of them was the one that caught my eye. If it ever comes back around, I’ll edit and put it here!

For the most part, I really liked this book. “Daddy’s Best Friend” books are iffy for me. Add in 18 year old virgin troupe and I never know what I’m going to end up with!

I love that Hawk really is a good guy, despite fucking his best friend’s daughter (but he loves her, so I forgive him). I am a sucker for a rough around the edges good guy, even though the whole rest of the world seems to exclusively love bad boys turned “good” -to varying degrees.

It’s been a long time since I’ve been 18 (or a virgin, for that matter) so it’s hard to relate to Lucy, but Lola StVil did a good job of not turning her into an “I’m 18 and cute and the world revolves around me!” that seems to irritate the hell out of me in the “New Adult” genre of Romance. The fact that I’m Hawks age and think that maybe he needs to find himself a woman our age, who maybe deserves a good fucking for making it through life so far, didn’t stop me from enjoying the book. It’s the first book I’ve read by Lola StVil and I’ll have to check out her others.

This is the 2nd book of the series.

#1 From Garden to Grave: The Leafy Hollow Mysteries – Rickie Blair

Murder in a church(yard)?! Oh…My…

Of course, the 2nd book of a series is make it or break it for me. And this one did not disappoint. It’s nice getting to know the people who live in Leafy Hollow.

Verity is right smack dab in the middle of another murder. This time she’s not exactly a suspect, but is helping out Emy’s cousin. But, once again she gets herself in trouble and tries to get herself killed! Emy gets a bit bitchy and pisses me off, so we’ll see what happens with her! ha

We also learn a bit more about all the shit going down in the basement! Aunt Adeline is still missing, so Verity is trying to figure that out too!

On the Plus Side – Alison Bliss

This is Book 2 of the ‘The Perfect Fit’ Series. The First one Size Matters – Alison Bliss was great. This one did not disappoint!

I love  “friends to lovers”, “enemies to lovers”, and “brothers best friend” books. This one had all 3. And was plus size friendly – again without the fetish. Everything about this book made me happy! 🙂

Logan has just moved back into town and him and Valerie (who we met in Size Matters) is his best friends little sister, and sparks fly. Valerie makes a list of Sexy things that she’s not interested in. Logan finds the list and thinks it’s a bucket list, so he sets out trying to check things off for her! All while keeping it a secret from Brett, Valerie’s brother!  It really is hilarious and sexy. And Logan. Damn, Logan! ❤  I was actually really sad when I was done with this book because I really enjoyed it!

And right this minute as I type this,  the kindle ebook is free, so go get it! (Make sure you double check!) I found it at my library!

This book was really cute. It’s the first in a series of nosey busybody mysteries- hahaha. Which, is my go-to genre, obviously!

Verity is a recluse who is estranged from her aunt, and hides out in mourning of her husband. When her aunt goes missing, she leaves her apartment to travel to her aunts home to look for her! She stumbles into taking over Aunt Adeline’s landscaping business, and trying to make her cottage habitable. She makes some new friends and solves a few murders along the way…. and then, is Aunt Adeline really a landscaper? dum dum dum…

It almost has a lighthearted ‘Grimm’ feeling. Remember when the show first started and Nick found out his aunt wasn’t some eccentric woman who pulled her trailer around the country, that she was fighting Wesen (did I spell that right?)? It was sorta like that. Since I liked Grimm, I’m curious to see where this series takes us.

Size Matters – Alison Bliss

I was at the library looking for a book by another author, and this caught my eye. So, I grabbed the three books in the series.

Being plus sized myself, I love the idea around plus size romance novels, but a lot of time the execution is way off. It’s usually a “plus size girl” who is really a Size 10 with big tits. Or, it turns into some weird fetish stuff (and I mean WEIRD). FYI: I have never put food in my vagina.

Back to the book: After a series of misunderstandings, Sam has to pretend to be Leah’s fiance for a weekend getaway with her family. I found the whole weekend and interaction with her family hilarious! At that point he’s trying to offend her family so that Leah will break off the “engagement”, but it’s so funny that there’s not that cringing that normally comes along with setups like that. Alison did a fantastic job of really making it a rom-com and not just embarrassing.

I like the way Sam stands up to Leah’s mom. She is a nitpicker and constantly hurts Leah’s feelings (all lovingly- like that’s an excuse). I loved that he straight up told her to back the fuck off – which is good, because I wanted to slap her too! I have friends who have momma’s like her, and I wanna slap them – Another FYI: You’re not allowed to slap your friends’ parents! ha.. I lucked out in the momma department. I’ve never had to worry about shit like that. But damn, that’ll fuck up your self-esteem!

I like Sam and Leah together. I love their banter. Their chemistry is hot! There’s lots of Sam that remind me of my husband, so I can’t help but love him. ❤

I love that there is a plus-size, rom-com, fake-fiancee book that I can enjoy! My favorite things rolled into a single book!  I’m gonna be looking for more!

The Bachelor Auction: A Bachelors of Arizona Novel – Rachel Van Dyken

The Bachelor Auction 2

I like the Library cover better.

This was so funny! I love a good dirty rom-com. And, by now, I’m sure you’ve realized that I’ve cleaned the Rachel Van Dyken section of the library out. I’ve turned into a super fan of hers! This is the first book in a series about 3 brothers. I can’t wait to read the other 2!

I liked Brock. He was gruff, funny, and loyal. And Jane keeps up with him. I like that she goes head to head with him. She doesn’t care that he has money, she doesn’t let him get away with shit!

It’s a very sweet book about healing and family, and sometimes family sucks and sometime family is awesome. Just like real life. There was a couple of parts that made me tear up. That’s the 2nd book in a row of Rachel’s that has made me cry. AAAh!

Pretty Little Killers – Rita Herron

Pretty Little Killers

Find it on Amazon

Another Library book! We’ve been hitting up the library quite a bit lately, and I really like paper books a lot more than reading on my phone, so I’ve been grabbing more and more library books for me.

I’m really iffy about this book. I really liked parts of it, and other parts not so much. The whole book reminded me a lot of the plot of The Blacklist, really. Even though it was nothing like the show. It had that same feel to it.

The vigilante killing of people who deserved to die. I liked it. I liked the fact that it was happening. And I was really kind of irritated that Korine and whiny Hatcher were trying to stop/solve these murders. Ha.

Whiny Hatcher…. that’s what I want to call him. He lied to Korine about being married (albeit separated) , but then seems to take it out on her that he didn’t answer the wives phone call when she needed him. He’s really an ass, I think.

I didn’t realize this had a romance(ish) substory line when I grabbed it off the shelf. And, I would have liked the book a whole lot better as a whole if it hadn’t. I liked the mystery part, and I was totally shocked at how/why Korine’s dad died. But, trying to put Korine and Hatcher into some sort of relationship irritated me. They are attracted to each other, but he’s an ass, why would she put up with that? I don’t know. It just rubbed me the wrong way. Maybe that was the point of it? I’m not sure.

I really like Rita’s writing, and though this is the first book of hers, it won’t be the last. In fact, getting the link to the amazon product page I saw that this was the first book in a series. I will definitely read the next book!

Fraternize – Rachel Van Dyken

fraternize

Find it on Amazon

This is the first book I’ve read by Rachel Van Dyken. I read it in less than a day. No joke. I read really slowly (only since I’ve gotten older. I used to read incredibly fast – no more!) and I still flew through this book. I could not put it down. Like I was irritated that I needed to cook dinner for the family – Ha!

From the very beginning I liked Sanchez. I even posted on my instagram that I was going to be disappointed because I liked him so much, but I was sure this book was going to be a second-chance romance. Not that I could blame Emerson.  I mean, Miller is nothing to be sad about, but Sanchez is my man. He made me all sorts of sqiggly! Ha

I really liked Emerson. I liked the fact that she was funny and self depreciating sometimes, but she was 100% herself. I loved the fact that Rachel wrote her as a curvy bitch in a skinny world. And made her strong enough to flourish. Some authors try to write that story, but the “curvy girl” always ends up a whiner who is trying to lose weight. I love that this was not that story! And Kinsey! I love her! Sometimes the friends in books really get on my nerves, but Kinsey could be my buddy!

I grabbed #2 (Infraction) when I got this one from the library, and I can’t wait to start it! I am a new fan of Rachel – and sports romances it seems!

For real though, in real life, can you imagine how hard it must be to be with a pro athlete?! Women all over them? I wonder if teammates are really the assholes in real life that they seem to be in books and movies. There always is some douche who is trying to get players to cheat on their wives and/or girlfriends. I wonder how accurate that is. I couldn’t imagine being the dude who is pushing someone to cheat on their spouse/partner. That has got to be some bad karma mojo!

Lying in Wait – Ann Rule

lying in wait

Crime Files Vol. 17

Find it on Amazon

Damn, I don’t know why I keep reading Ann Rule books! All’s it does is fuck me up and make me not trust anybody and think everyone is out to get me. Why? Because everyone is out to get me!! Aaaack

The Baby Seller- Fuck a bunch of that! The idea that a mothers love for her babies be used against her! No! Being a mom myself, I could only imagine how Geneva and Sally felt once they realized that things were going sideways :/. And poor Tracy! Seeing your momma shot in front of you and your baby brother taken. I can not imagine the damage done. People truly are crazy.

Secrets of the Amorous Pizza Man – Well, Al Baker was just a douchebag. That’s what that boils down to. Talk somebody into being a relationship with you, then kill them? What the fuck is the point of that?! Dumbass mother fucker. That is all I have to say about him!

A Road Trip to Murder- Except for Red Pederson,  everyone that Joey and Holly killed were innocent people and it was stupid senseless killings. I have mixed feelings for Red, because it seems that he sexually abused Joey when he was a kid, so I can’t feel bad about the fact that Joey ended up killing him and giving him what he deserved. For real.

Murderous Epitaph for the Beautiful Runaway – This story is so sad. Perhaps because I feel a sense of wanderlust sometimes. Britt just wanted to get out and explore the world. Doesn’t everyone dream of doing that at 18 (and 30, honestly)? Growing up in one place and wanting to experience life before too many responsibilities drag you under into adulthood. The whole thing is super sad that she had her whole life ahead of her, and some douche took it away because he wanted to get his dick wet.

Tracks of a Serial Rapist –  Speaking of douchebags who just want to get their dick wet. Here is another asshole who thinks that his cock is more important than any fucking things else. Too bad rapists don’t lose their cocks as punishment. I firmly believe that if you rape someone, chemical castration should be your punishment. 100%

Take a Lifer Home to Dinner…with Murder for Dessert –  This was the story of a career criminal that highlights how flawed and fucked up the justice system is. This dude couldn’t even be contained in jail. They kept letting this asshole out. “Take a lifer to dinner”. What the fuck? Sounds like a good program for people who deserve to be in jail and have been convicted and sentenced to life to get out and have some free dinner time. I hope whoever thought that shit up and implemented it in Washington jails got fired. Fuck a bunch of that nonsense.

I always say I’m not going to read anymore Ann Rule books. And then I see one in the library that I haven’t read, and I have to grab it. I’m a glutton for punishment, I guess!!!
